'Reckless' summary
The name I have chosen is 'Reckless' as teenagers who listen to the genre of music my magazine features are stereotypically categorized as being rebellious and care free. I got inspiration from the rock band called 'The Pretty Reckless'; when the bands that are featured in 'Reckless' are on stage their approach is careless and wild, meaning that the audience usually have the same approach.
The genre my of magazine is rock, alternative, pop-punk and occasional dubstep artists. I have chosen this genre as it is currently one of the most mainstream as this particular genre is incredibly popular with teenagers. The fact that my magazine features rock and similar genres means that the magazine will sell as teenagers are commonly known to buying magazines weekly and there aren't that many other magazine's currently on the market which are similar to 'Reckless'.
My front cover is Sophie Tait who is looking directly at the camera to invite potential buyers to pick up 'Reckless'. Her image represents the stereotypical 'rock star' with her edgy, heavy eye makeup and long dark hair. In my contents page I featured two concert photographs of a band called 'Blink 182' which I will advertise as free posters. These two photographs fit in with my magazine's genre and will appeal to my target audience as they will attend similar concerts. Another photograph I featured on my contents page was of Andrew Robinson drumming in his garage, this particular image represents that the dream of becoming a 'rock star' is achievable and a garage is the place where the majority of the celebrities begin. On my double page spread I have placed a dominating, eye catching photograph of Sophie Tait; I think that this certain photograph looks professional as it was taken in a real studio, as if it could feature in a real magazine. In this photograph Sophie portrays confidence like most signers do. Her outfit relates to my target audience of teenagers as she is wearing an outfit they would typically wear.
The primary audience of 'Reckless' will be teenagers aged 13-20 who enjoy listening to the type of genre my magazine features, who attend gigs or who wish to peruse a career in music. I think teenagers of this age range would be my magazines primary audience because the majority of the bands featured will be young artists who target the younger generation and the genre is more popular with teenagers. My secondary audience will be the parents who pay for the magazine as teenagers usually receive 'pocket money' once a week and this is why I would publish 'Reckless' on a weekly basis. 'Reckless' may also appeal to a older audience who are interested in becoming fans and listening to the certain bands that are featured in my magazine.
