Contents page analysis

Band Index: The band index lists the different range of bands and artists who are featured in this issue of 'NME'. I personally think that it is an effective way to appeal to a mainstream audience as it will attract more buyers. Although I love the idea of a band index I'm unsure whether to include one in my contents page or not as my magazine is only targeted at a younger, teenage audience who are mainly interested in the rock/alternative genre; similar to 'Kerrang'.

Sub images: The sub images look slightly of focus and of poor quality in this particular contents page. I will make sure that all of the photographs featured in my magazine will be of good quality so 'Reckless' will have a professional look.

Subheadings: I like how the subheadings are in a black box with white text so it has an eye catching contrast. I used this idea in my front cover so the headlines were highlighted and plan to do the same in my own contents page as I think it makes the layout more appealing, and is an effective way to organize the information.

Advertisement:  The subscription offer is in yellow so it grabs the readers attention, making it one of the first pieces of information they will look at when opening the magazine; the word 'just' emphasizes that the price is reasonable. I think that I will advertise my magazine's own website on my contents page as most large, well known, music magazine's appear to have one.
