'RECKLESS' front cover

My main photograph will appeal to my potential buyers as my model is of the same age range that my magazine's primary audience targets, 14-20. Her appearance was equally important when I took this photograph, I think that my model has the alternative look that the majority of my readers will have, heavy eye makeup and casual clothing. When researching I thought that the majority of magazine front covers looked overly cluttered with sub images and this is why I decided to make Sophie Tait be the main focus, I think that this would make my magazine look more original causing it to stand out.

The colour palette I used was black and purple as I didn't want my magazine to only attract one sex as I think that it would appeal to a wider audience, making 'RECKLESS' more successful. I tried an array of different fonts for the header 'RECKLESS' until I chose the style I currently have, I think that the font has the alternative, grunge-like look I was aiming for, therefor it fits in with magazine's style and genre. I used box's to highlight my sell lines to make them eye catching, I chose the colours purple and white as they contrasted the most and because I wanted to stick to my magazine's colour palette to make  'RECKLESS' look professional. When researching magazine's of a similar genre, like 'Kerrang', I noticed that they always had a header which advertised particular parts of the magazine which weren't included in the sell lines. I decided to include this in my own magazine as I think that if my sell lines included on the front cover didn't appeal to a certain buyer they may find a article which intrigues them in the header, causing them to buy it.  I used a quote from Sophie Tait's interview as a percentage of my potential buyers would of picked up 'RECKLESS' because of her, I believe that this was a way to advertise my models article without giving away too much information.
