On a front cover there is always a main image that is used to attract the potential buyers and usually determines the magazine's genre. I think that the main photograph should link to the magazine's genre to avoid causing the potential buyers confusion. The magazine has a mast head, which is the magazine’s title, I think that the font should not be over the top so it makes the magazine look unprofessional but have a more eye catching appearance compared to the sell lines.
Subheadings should be made clear but not give too much information away about the certain article to avoid making the front cover look cluttered. Magazine covers usually have a colour palette of three to four different colours, I think that if too many colours are used the magazine will not appear to be professional. A price tag is made to stand out if the cost is reasonably cheap to emphasise how affordable the magazine would be to buy, attracting buyers. Magazine covers always have the date, issue number and a bar code. There are also sub images and a preview of what is inside the magazine so potential buyers can see if the articles included would appeal to them.
Contents pages typically have a paragraph from the editor which welcomes reader to the magazine, sub images of articles are included and a list of page numbers with their information at the side. With this being a school magazine I would expect the use of informal language as the target audience would be a younger generation, 12-18. The articles featured in this magazine should be related to education, articles like: exam tips, school clubs and activities and trips.
