Why the photographs appeal

I selected this photograph for my magazine as I think that it fits in with the genre of 'RECKLESS' as Blink 182 are a pop punk band. My primary audience of teenagers will probably be interested as they either listen to the band, want to get into the band or because they attended the gig themselves.

I decided to pose Andrew as a drummer in a successful band who shared his story of making it in the music industry. The photograph is supposed to be of him when his band practised in a garage as I think that many of the teenagers who buy 'RECKLESS' would have the dream of becoming part of the music industry. I included this photograph in my contents page rather than my front cover, I edited the final version as the quality looks rather unprofessional in the first shot.

This is the photograph I used as my front cover. I think that it will appeal to my audience as my model fits in with the genre of my magazine given the heavy eye make up and dark black hair. My model will also attract teenager buyers as she is of the same age that my audience is targeted at. When I shot this photograph I also made sure that my model was looking directly into the camera lenses so she engages with the reader as I noticed that this technique was used in many other magazines.

This is the photograph I used for my double page spread. I decided to use this image as it looked the most professional as I shot it in a real studio. I made sure that my model fitted in with my magazine's genre, a teenage, alternative appearance. Her outfit has a casual, edgy look to it as I wanted to emphasise that my artist had just made it in the music industry, therefore she wasn't overly dressed like most celebrities.
